Content Media and Bernd Schlötterer’s Palatin Media have secured joint international distribution rights to Date My Dad, the ten episode scripted dramedy series that is being produced for U.S. cable network UP, TVWise has learned.
As part of this agreement, in additional to serving as the international distributors, Content and Palatin will also co-produce the show. The two companies will launch Date My Dad to international buyers at MIPTV in April, ahead of the U.S. broadcast premiere in June.
“With its contemporary storylines, well-developed characters and acclaimed talent both on- and off-screen, Date My Dad holds great appeal for the international market”, said Greg Phillips, President of Distribution at Content Media. “We are seeing strong demand for relatable and authentic primetime comedy drama and I’m looking forward to working with Palatin Media to bring this fantastic new series to international audiences.”
Date My Dad tells the story of Ricky Cooper, who had the perfect life. A former professional baseball player, he was married to Isabella, the love of his life. Ricky’s world comes crashing down when Isabella passes away leaving him to raise his three daughters with the help of his live-in mother-in-law Rosa. The dramedy series is produced by 50˚ North in association with EveryWhere Studios and stars Barry Watson, Raquel Welch, Lilah Fitzgerald, Audrey Smallman and Zenia Marie Marshall.
“Date My Dad presents a highly engaging and entertaining perspective on modern life and relationships, with all its drama, dilemmas, hilarity and heart-warming moments, standing alongside the tradition of huge worldwide success stories such as 7th Heaven and Gilmore Girls”, added Bernd Schlötterer, Founder of Palatin Media. “UP TV is renowned for showcasing content that has wide appeal for all ages and presenting a stellar cast, in this case Barry Watson, who shines in family drama, and global superstar Raquel Welch. I’m confident that this brand new family dramedy will prove very successful worldwide through our collaboration with Content Media”.
