The fifth and final season of A&E’s drama series Bates Motel will receive its UK premiere on Universal Channel on Tuesday April 11th at 9pm, it has been announced.

Created by Carlton Cuse, Bates Motel was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and is described as a contemporary exploration of the formative years of Norman Bates, relationship with his mother, Norma, and the world they inhabit. The drama series is produced by Universal Television and stars Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Max Thieriot, Nicola Peltz, Olivia Cooke and Nestor Carbonell.

Season five picks up two years two years after season four and finds Norman, a grown man now, living a double life. Meanwhile, Dylan Massett and Emma Decody, since leaving White Pine Bay, have been living their lives blissfully unaware of Norma’s death and Norman’s full on descent into psychosis. Unfortunately, for them, they will soon find themselves drawn back into Norman’s insanity, while a vengeful Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell), who is currently incarcerated for a perjury, hungers for a chance to destroy his stepson and avenge the murder of his one true love, Norma Bates
