Sky Vision Locks Down New U.S. Partner For 'Fortitude' – TVWise

Sky Vision has locked down a new U.S. partner for Fortitude.
Sky’s international sales division has sold the arctic crime drama to Amazon Prime Video in the United States. The first season of the show has been available on the streaming service since last January and the second season – now marketed as an Amazon Original Series – will premiere later this year.
Sky Vision has been on the hunt to secure a new home for Fortitude state-side for the past several months; ever since Pivot, the U.S. cable network that co-produced the series, announced that they were closing down and as such would not be airing the second season.
“Amazon is the perfect home for Fortitude in the US,” said Jane Millichip, Managing Director of Sky Vision. “Fortitude is high-end, addictive viewing and perfectly suits Amazon’s scripted portfolio. Amazon has been a keen supporter of the series from the outset, having taken an SVOD window on season one. We’re delighted to now extend the relationship and make Amazon the home of our most successful returning Sky Atlantic original drama series.”
Fortitude, from Fifty Fathoms, Tiger Aspect and Simon Donald, told the story of a mysterious death in a close-knit community in the Arctic Circle in its first season. In season two, a fresh murder rocks the community and plunges it into turmoil. And out in the stunning icy wilderness, nature is growing even more unpredictable, deadly and dangerous.
Most of the cast from season one – including Sofie Gråbøl and Richard Dormer– are returning and will be joined by the likes of Dennis Quaid, Parminder Nagra, Michelle Fairley, Robert Sheehan and Ken Stott. The executive producers are Patrick Spence, Simon Donald, Faye Dorn, Frith Tiplady, Anne Mensah and Lizzie Gray. The second season recently started airing on Sky Atlantic here in the UK. It has yet to be renewed for a third season.
