BBC One Sets Premiere Date For Shannon Matthews Drama ‘The Moorside’

BBC One’s two-part Shannon Matthews drama The Moorside will premiere on Tuesday February 7th at 9pm, it has been announced.

The Moorside explores the untold side of the Shannon Matthews case and reveals how a group of women brought their community together in their attempt to find a child who disappeared in their midst. The focus of the drama is on the spirit and determination of the women at the forefront of the campaign and the impact on them when the truth about Shannon’s disappearance was finally revealed.

The two-part drama hails from ITV Studios’ Head of Factual Drama Jeff Pope (Appropriate AdultThe Widower) and stars Sheridan Smith (The C Word, Mrs Biggs), Siobhan Finneran (Happy Valley, The Syndicate), Gemma Whelan (Mapp And Lucia) and Sian Brooke. Paul Whittington directed from a script by Neil McKay. The executive producers are Jeff Pope for ITV Studios and Neil McKay and Lucy Richer for the BBC.
