Sleepy Hollow is being relocated here in the UK.
The drama series is jumping from Universal Channel to sister channel Syfy UK, TVWise has learned. The show’s fourth season will premiere on Syfy UK on Wednesday February 22nd at 9pm.
Sleepy Hollow was a high-profile acquisition for Universal Channel when they snapped up the show in a deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution in 2013; kicking off a more aggressive acquisitions strategy for NBCU’s UK channels.
Universal’s gamble on the show paid off, with Sleepy Hollow consistently ranking as Universal’s highest rated import. As such, the decision to move the series is not believed to be based on any ratings performance but rather that it is a better fit for Syfy UK given the mix of programming on the genre channel.
Created by Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, Sleepy Hollow follows a resurrected Ichabod Crane joins forces with modern-day allies to save the world from supernatural forces and unprecedented evil. The drama series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television & K/O Paper Products and stars Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane. The executive producers are Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Len Wiseman, Clifton Campbell, Albert Kim, Raven Metzner, Russell Fine and Heather Kadin.
The show’s fourth season is set to be one of change following the season three finale, in which Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) was killed. Crane now finds himself in an all-new city working with all-new allies, as he embarks on his most important mission yet: To save our nation’s capital from otherworldly threats that promise harm, not only to our country and our people, but to the soul of democracy itself. Lyndie Greenwood joins the main cast this season as Jenny Mills.
