Killing Reagan will receive its UK premiere on National Geographic on Sunday January 8th at 8pm, it has been announced.
Killing Reagan tells the true story of the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan. On March 30th 1981, six shots were fired at the Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C. On one side of the gun was an aimless and deranged young man, misguided by an obsession with an American actress. His intended victim: the U.S. president. Though he failed in his assassination attempt, he succeeded in changing not only a presidency but a man and a marriage.
The one-off movie is based on the book of the same name by Bill O’Reilly and is the latest adaptation of his Killing series following on from Killing Lincoln, Killing Kennedy and Killing Jesus. It is produced by Scott Free Productions and stars Tim Matheson (The West Wing), Cynthia Nixon (Sex & the City), Kyle More (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Geoff Pierson (Castle), Jeff Harlan (Parks & Recreation), Michael H. Cole (Dirty Grandpa) and Joel Murray (Mad Men). Rod Lurie directed from a script by Eric Simonson. National Geographic has already ordered an adaptation of Killing Patton for 2017.
