grantchester-christmas-specialThe Grantchester Christmas Special will premiere on ITV on Christmas Eve (Saturday December 24th) at 9pm, it has been announced.

Based on the novels by James Runcie, Grantchester is set in the 1950s and follows an unlikely crime-fighting duo – the charismatic, charming clergyman Sidney Chambers and gruff, down-to-earth Police Inspector Geordie Keating. The drama series is produced by Kudos and stars James Norton, Robson Green, Tessa Peake-Jones, Morven Christie, Kacey Ainsworth, Al Weaver and Lorne MacFadyen.

The Christmas special will see the pregnant Amanda adjusting to life having left her husband, Guy. The love between Sidney and Amanda is palpable, but can a vicar in the 1950s really be romantically involved with a married, pregnant woman? Viewers can expect a festive, snow-filled Christmas episode full of emotion and drama. Peter Davison (Law & Order: UK) guest stars. A six episode third season has already been commissioned and is expected to air in 2017.
