Kudos exec Joanna Strevens is joining Carnival Films – the NBCU owned indie behind ITV’s hit Downton Abbey – as their new Head of Development.
Strevens will be responsible for overseeing Carnival’s development activity. She will report directly to Managing Director Gareth Neame. “I’m extremely excited to be joining such a remarkable team at Carnival, who have a very well-deserved reputation for producing internationally renowned scripted series”, she said.
She joins Carnival – whose numerous TV productions include Downton Abbey, The Last Kingdom and Stan Lee’s Lucky Man – from Kudos, where she also served as Head of Development; working across the company’s entire development slate and personally developing the second season of Sky Atlantic/Canal+ co-production The Tunnel.
Prior to joining Kudos in 2014, Jo Strevens held a similar role at Hat Trick Productions. As Hat Trick’s Head of Development she developed and Script Exec’d an extensive development slate including ITV’s The Suspicions of Mr Whicher and Case Sensitive, the BBC’s Fairytales and assisted with the early development of Sky 1’s Critical.
“Jo is a highly talented executive and I’m delighted that she’s joining the team”, added Gareth Neame, Managing Director of Carnival Films. “Her extensive experience of bringing high-end drama slates to fruition as well as the relationships she has built with broadcasters, writers and directors, will prove essential in helping us take Carnival to the next level.”
