ITV’s three part drama In Plain Sight (not to be confused with the USA Network series of the same name which also aired on ITV) will premiere on Wednesday December 7th at 9pm, it has been announced.
In Plain Sight (formerly known as Muncie) tells the true story of William Muncie’s long quest to bring Peter Manuel to justice, beginning in 1946 when he arrested Manuel for “housebreaking” and a string of sexual assaults.
Released from prison nine years later, Manuel embarked on a two-year killing spree and made Muncie his Number One target audience, sending him birthday cards and leaving tantalising clues. While the local police were stymied, Muncie doggedly refused to give up until Manuel was brought to justice.
Nick Stevens, who extensively researched the story, penned the scripts for In Plain Sight, which is set as a co-production between World Productions and Finlaggan Films. Douglas Henshall leads the cast as Lanarkshire detective William Muncie; while Line Of Duty’s Martin Compston plays Peter Manuel. Other cast members include Brian McCardie (Outlander), Denis Lawson (New Tricks), Shauna Macdonald (The Five), Joanna Roth (Endeavour) and Gary Lewis (The Smoke). Line Of Duty helmer John Strickland the director.
