A+E Networks UK – the company behind a range of channel brands including History, Lifetime and the recently launched Blaze – has raised close to £17 000 for military charity Team Rubicon UK.
Founded in 2010, Team Rubicon provides disaster relief to those affected by natural disasters, be they domestic or international. By pairing the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders, medical professionals, and technology solutions, Team Rubicon aims to provide the greatest service and impact possible.
A+E Networks UK’s staff raised a total £16 800 through a variety of methods, including cake sales, auctions, raffles and a sponsored race. The race, which took place at the company’s new London office in Hammersmith from Monday November 7th through to Remembrance Day on Friday November 11th, saw three teams of ten staff took to stationary exercise bikes to cycle 329 miles – the distance between Team Rubicon’s UK base in Wiltshire and Keswick, the location of Operation Wordsworth, which was their first UK operation after the floods in 2015.
The entire company took part in the fundraising event including A+E Networks UK’s Managing Director Dean Possenniskie and Heather Jones, A+E Networks General Manager, UK. Team Rubicon UK CEO John Leach also took part in the race. Possenniskie matched the funds raised via the race along with an additional £2 for every mile over the target distance of 329 miles. Following the success of the fundraising drive, A+E Networks’ London team is making this an annual CSR (corporate social responsibility) event.
