'The Lodge' Opens Well For Disney Channel UK, Ranks As Highest Rated Series Premiere In 4 Years – TVWise

Disney Channel UK’s newest original series is a bonafide hit.
The Lodge has performed exceptionally well for the channel across multiple platforms and now ranks as the highest rated series premiere on Disney Channel UK in four years. All told, the series premiere attracted 261K individuals (aged 4+), 204K kids (aged 4 to 15), and 139K tween girls (aged 8 to 12).
Inspired by the popular Israeli original live-action series North Star a Disney Channel/Yes Production, The Lodge follows the journey of self-discovery of 15-year-old Skye (Sophie Simnett). It was commissioned by Disney EMEA and is produced by Zodiak Kids. The Lodge was filmed in Northern Ireland with the support of Northern Ireland Screen.
In addition the taking the record as the highest rated series premiere in four years, The Lodge has also knocked out the competition to become the biggest ever telecast of 2016 with tween girls (aged 8 to 12) across all UK kids’ channels. This ratings success bodes well for Disney as they prepare to roll out the series across their global footprint in EMEA, the USA and Canada from this month onwards.
In other key metrics: The Lodge is currently the #1 property on the Disney Channel UK website, with five times the number of visitors than all other shows. It has also proven to be a strong performer on social media, hitting the #2 trending spot on Twitter during the transmission of its premiere episode and is Disney Channel’s biggest ever property on Instagram.
“We couldn’t be prouder of the way The Lodge is resonating with viewers in the UK, driving them to engage in impressive numbers across multiple platforms”, said Disney Channel UK’s David Levine. “For a local production to make its mark in this way, and so early on, is testament to the quality of the show. Audiences are connecting with its themes, which are so relevant to their lives, soaking up the incredible music, and responding to the talented cast. We are looking forward to introducing more viewers across EMEA, US and Canada in the next coming weeks.”
