Delroy Lindo (The Chicago Code, Believe) has been tapped for a series regular role in CBS All Access untitled The Good Wife spin-off, TVWise has learned.
Lindo will play Robert Boseman, an attorney who starts poaching Diane Lockhart’s associates and clients when she gets into financial trouble, and threatens her ability to stay in business. He joins Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, Sarah Steele and Rose Leslie in the main cast.
“Boseman is a character who dominates every scene, intimidates every lawyer, and is beloved by every client. He needs to look like a Chicago lawyer, but have a Shakespearian facility with language, and Delroy Lindo was really the only actor who came to mind,” said showrunners Robert and Michelle King.
The spin-off series, which is eyed for a February premiere, picks up one year after the events seen in the series finale of The Good Wife, after an enormous financial scam has destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer, Maia (Leslie), while simultaneously wiping out her mentor Diane Lockhart’s savings. Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, they join Lucca Quinn at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.
The pilot script was penned by Phil Alden Robinson and Robert & Michelle King. CBS Television Studios is producing in association with Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions, with the Kings, Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Liz Glotzer, Brooke Kennedy and Alison Cross serving as executive producers. CBS Studios International is handling global sales.
