Comedy Central UK has picked up their adaptation of U.S. format Drunk History for a third season, TVWise has learned. In line with previous seasons, the channel has ordered eight episodes for season three.
“Drunk History is a really noisy, brand-defining show for Comedy Central that’s great fun to make”, said Louise Holmes, Vice President of Programming for Comedy Central UK. “Filming on series three has begun and we’ve got some exciting names lining up to get soddenly drunken in the name of history.”
One of the first shows to come through from Comedy Central’s strategy of adapting their U.S. formats for local markets, Drunk History has been a hit for Comedy Central UK. The show’s first season performed 33% above the slot average and the second season grew by a further 95%. Each episode from season two had an average audience of 210 000 adults.
Drunk History features comedians getting very drunk in order to tell a true historical story they are passionate about. As they narrate these stories, slurred word for slurred word, a host of well-known actors, celebrities and other comedians act out these new, rather blurry versions of history. Tiger Aspect Productions is producing, with Andy Brereton serving as the executive producer. Tom McKay is the director and Ben Rogers is the series producer. Cast for season three will be confirmed at a later date.
