Showtime Picks Up ‘Homeland’ For 7th & 8th Season, ‘Ray Donovan’ Also Renewed

Homeland S5Showtime has officially pulled the trigger on a two-season pick-up for Homeland and renewed the CIA drama for a seventh and eighth season, TVWise has learned.

Liev Schreiber fronted LA fixer drama Ray Donovan has also been renewed for a fifth season. The show’s fourth season is currently airing on Showtime on Sunday nights

The two renewal announcements were made today by Showtime President and CEO David Nevins during the network’s executive panel at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour.

Showtime has been in talks with Homeland producer Fox 21 Television Studios for the past few months about a multi-season pick-up. It was Nevins himself who revealed that they were eyeing a two-season renewal back in June. As part of the renewal licesning deal, both lead actress Claire Danes and showrunner Alex Gansa have had their contracts extended through season eight. The remaining cast members are expected to be signed shortly.
