The fifth season of DCI Banks will premiere on ITV on Wednesday August 31st at 9pm, it has been announced.
Based on the novels written by Peter Robinson, DCI Banks was developed for television by Robert Murphy and follows Detective Chief Inspector Alan Banks as he conducts murder investigations alongside his colleagues. The drama series is produced by Left Bank Pictures and stars Stephen Tompkinson, Andrea Lowe and Caroline Catz.
There will be a slight change in format for the series this year. While season five will once again comprise three two-part stories, the show will also take on a more serialised tone this year, with a plot-line that carries through all six episodes. Said plot-line sees Banks confront a powerful adversary, who has been dubbed by his superiors as too big to bring down, setting in motion a chain of events that rips at the very fabric of his life, both professional and personal.
