The second season of BBC One’s military drama Our Girl will premiere on Wednesday September 7th at 9pm, it has been announced.
Our Girl originally followed Molly Dawes (Lacey Turner) as she completed her training with the Royal Army Medical Corps and embarked on her first-ever deployment as a serving medic in Afghanistan. However, as TVWise previously reported, Turner exited the series last year due to her commitments to EastEnders; forcing the producers to bring in Michelle Keegan (Ordinary Lies) as the new lead and re-tool the series.
The show’s second season will now focus on Corporal Georgie Lane (Michelle Keegan), and the other members of Two Section on an African mission. Kenya is a complicated and volatile posting – one which Georgie will find full of surprises that will challenge her professionally in unexpected ways, and which will change her personal life forever. Ben Aldridge reprises his role from season one as Captain Charles James.
From Tony Grounds and BBC Drama Production, Our Girl originally began its life as a one-off drama, before the BBC picked it up for a full series in 2013. Season two was commissioned by then BBC One Controller Charlotte Moore and Controller of Drama Commissioning Polly Hill in 2015. Caroline Skinner and Tony Grounds serve as the executive producers.
TVWise’s UK Premiere Dates page has been updated with this new information.
