Sky is adding to the executive ranks of their comedy team with the hire of Tilusha Ghelani as Commissioning Editor. Ghelani joins the satcaster from the BBC, where she has been serving as Assistant Comedy Commissioner since February 2015.
“I’ve always been passionate about comedy so I’m thrilled to be joining Sky’s Comedy commissioning team”, Ghelani said in a statement. “Sky has a great reputation for comedy. I’m looking forward to making my mark with excellent new shows whilst achieving Sky’s ambition to provide outstanding content for viewers.”
Ghelani will take up post at Sky in August and will work on the company’s entire comedy output, across Sky1, Sky Atlantic, Sky Arts and On-Demand. Sky Living is no longer producing originals and as such does not fall under her remit. She will be responsible for commissioning and executive producing a wealth of comedy series, as well as working on existing productions such as Stella, Trollied and Rovers.
Prior to being named Assistant Comedy Commissioner at the BBC in February 2015, Tilusha Ghelani spent 12 years as a comedy producer, across both radio and television, In her time at the corporation she worked on such shows as Nurse and Just A Minute, and commissioned projects from in-house and indie producers for BBC One, BBC Two and BBC Three Online.
