Charlie DePew Joins Freeform’s ‘Famous In Love’ In Recasting

Famous In LoveCharlie DePew (The Amazing Spiderman) has joined the cast of Freeform’s upcoming one-hour soap Famous In Love as a series regular, TVWise has learned.

He will play Jake, a down-to-earth guy from the Midwest with an edge who aspires to be a screenwriter/indie filmmaker. Charlie DePew replaces Finding Carter star Jesse Henderson, who starred in the pilot episode, but has since departed the production after the role was re-envisioned.

Famous In Love follows ordinary college student Paige as she gets her big break after auditioning for the starring role in a Hollywood blockbuster. She must now navigate her new star-studded life and undeniable chemistry with her two co-leads, while discovering the highs and lows that come with being the new It Girl in town.

Charlie DePewDePew – whose previous television credits include Mad MenAwkwardThe Goldbergs and The Ranch – joins a cast that includes Bella Thorne (The DUFF), Carter Jenkins (The Following), Georgie Flores (CSI), Niki Koss (My Stepdaughter), Pepi Sonuga (The Fosters), Keith Powers (Straight Outta Compton) and Perrey Reeves (Entourage).

Famous In Love is based on the novel by Rebecca Serle and was developed for television by Pretty Little Liars‘ I. Marlene King. It is being produced by Long Lake Media, Farah Films and Carmina Productions, Inc. in association with Warner Horizon Television. The executive producers are I. Marlene King, Christopher Fife, Miguel Arteta and Dan Farah. Production is now underway in and around Los Angeles for a 2017 premiere.
