The Great British Bake Off is getting the festive treatment.
BBC One has ordered a pair of Christmas themed specials, titled The Great Christmas Bake Off, which will air this December, TVWise has confirmed.
“What a treat to bring two Great British Bake Off specials to BBC One this Christmas. Mary, Paul, Mel and Sue are the perfect recipe for the festive season”, said the BBC’s Director of Content Charlotte Moore,
The Great Christmas Bake Off will feature judges Mary Berry & Paul Hollywood, as well as hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc, as they welcome back four bakers from past series and ask them to don their Christmas jumpers and aprons to tackle three festive challenges. There is no word yet on which former contestants will appear in these two Christmas specials.
Love Productions, the Sky owned indie behind the hit format, is producing the two specials for BBC One. Clare Paterson is the commissioning editor for the BBC. The Executive Producers are Sarah Thomson-Woolley, Anna Beattie and Richard McKerrow for Love Productions.
This marks the first time that the BBC has ordered Christmas themed episodes, having previously commissioned a number Bake Of Master Classes, in which Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry demonstrate festive recipes. The BBC said that these two Christmas Bake Off Specials are replacing the Master Classes, which will not be returning this year.
