UKTV has unveiled Dave TALKS, a series of eight spoof lectures that are available exclusively on the commercial network’s YouTube channel, TVWise has learned.
A spoof of the well known online lecture format, the Dave TALKS shorts were written and performed by a range of comedic talent including Katy Wix, Phil Wang, Nick Helm, Elis James, John Kearns, Adam Riches, Emma Sidi and James Acaster; who speak on such topics as “People Are Not A Fruit” and “Unlocking The Power of Emojis”.
Dave TALKS, which carries the tagline “Ideas No One Needs”, was devised as a collaborative project between members from several of UKTV’s departments and was commissioned by Tanya Qureshi. The shorts were funded by UKTV’s Innovation pot and filmed at the state-of-the-art production facility housed at the company’s headquarters in Hammersmith.
“We are always looking for new ways to produce innovative, original content at UKTV and to work with new talent”, said UKTV’s Tanya Qureshi, who also served as an executive producer alongside Dave Barnsby, UKTV’s Digital Press Office Senior Manager. “Dave TALKS has helped us to achieve both of these things and is a testament to how invested we are in developing and nurturing relationships with creative comedy minds.”
“Last year heralded a change for UKTV’s YouTube strategy when we integrated our ten individual YouTube channels into one centralized offering”. added Barnsby. “Since then we’ve been steadily building subscriber numbers and views with a diverse range of content from across the network. Dave TALKS marks the next step in our YouTube evolution, providing more original and exclusive shortform content for our viewers to enjoy and complementing our longform programmes available for free on our video on demand service, UKTV Play.”
All eight Dave TALKS shorts are now available on UKTV’s YouTube channel.
