UKTV Revamps VOD Hub UKTV Play – TVWise

Fresh off of launching the first ever marketing campaign for UKTV Play, UKTV has revamped the user interface of their VOD hub.
UKTV Play will now feature a better organised homepage, higher-quality programme images and the introduction of easy-to-view genre listings.
The updates to the user interface, which come after extensive A/B testing, are designed to provide a cleaner and more personalized experience for UKTV Play users; making it easier to find their favourite programmes. The new look (see image, left launches on PC today and will be rolled out on other platforms in the months ahead.
Launched in 2014, UKTV Play is UKTV’s VOD hub which provides on-demand content from the network’s free-to-air channels Dave, Yesterday, Really and Drama. UKTV Play has enjoyed exponential growth since its launch and is now available on numerous platforms including PC, iOS, Android, Virgin TV, YouView, Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. The latest figures show UKTV Play achieved a record-breaking 81% year-on-year growth for Q1 2016, with the service also recently celebrating one million app downloads
To build on that success, as TVWise reported earlier today, UKTV has unveiled a wide-ranging marketing campaign for UKTV Play, known as ‘Love Your Thing’. Said campaign recognizes the passion that exists around different types of programming, dubbing them people’s ‘thing’, and aims to establish UKTV Play as an “energetic and disruptive” brand that “serves the eclectic viewing tastes of Britain”.
“UKTV Play has a vast and diverse catalogue of quality shows, which caters for everyone’s ‘thing’, whether that’s a love of drama or obsession with true crime. We wanted to reward users with an even better UKTV Play, and rigorous A/B testing has allowed us to develop a brilliant new streamlined interface to ensure visitors can find something great to watch in seconds”, said UKTV Play’s General Manager Emma Boston. “The new look site is set against an aesthetic, clean white background to give it a premium feel that mirrors the quality of our content. Our research shows that once people come in to use UKTV Play, they’re very likely to keep coming back, so it’s crucial their experience is first class every time.”
