Isidora Goreshter Upped To Regular On Showtime's 'Shameless' – TVWise

Shameless is promoting one of its key recurring players.
The Showtime drama has upped Isidora Goreshter to series regular status for the upcoming seventh season, which is now set to premiere this Fall after it was announced that Shameless would be swapping slots with Homeland.
Goreshter has been a recurring cast member on Shameless since the show’s third season, playing Russian prostitute Svetlana. The character originally appeared as part of violent storyline in which Mickey (Noel Fisher) was being forced to marry her by his father, who was unwilling to accept that he was gay and in a relationship with Ian Gallagher (Cameron Monaghan).
Since that introduction, Svetlana has grown in importance, and is now raising her and Mickey’s son. This past season saw the character working at V and Kev’s bar The Alibi, before ultimately moving with them and marrying V to avoid some issues with immigration as she does not have a greencard. News of Isidora Goreshter’s promotion was first reported by Deadline.
Shameless follows the daily lives of the members of the blue collar Gallagher family who live in the South Side of Chicago. The drama series stars William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum, Justin Chatwin, Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney, and Cameron Monaghan. John Wells developed the series and executive produces alongside showrunner Nancy Pimental.
