Fargo creator Noah Hawley, who is under an overall deal at FX Productions, penned the script for Legion and will serve as an executive producer alongside Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory and John Cameron. Legion is being produced by FX Productions and Marvel Television, with FXP handling the physical production. The eight episode first season will enter production this Summer in Vancouver for a 2017 premiere.

LegionFOX UK’s acquisition of Legion emanates from a larger deal made by the channel’s parent company Fox Networks Group (formerly known as Fox International Channels), which will see Legion air day-and-date on Fox channels in some 125 countries in 2017.

“Legion brings the X-Men universe to life, as a character driven, serialized TV show, in a truly amazing new way, and we’re pleased that X-Men fans will have the opportunity to see it simultaneously in the 125 countries where FOX is available”, said Peter Rice, Chairman and CEO of Fox Networks Group.

While Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb added: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Fox Networks Group to launch Legion to a massive global audience. In our storytelling, it is imperative to us that we’re creating characters and a universe that resonates with people around the world and we are so proud to introduce this cast of characters to fans everywhere.”
