FOX UK Acquires Australian Psychological Thriller ‘Wolf Creek’

New Fox UK Logo 2015FOX UK has acquired Australian psychological thriller Wolf Creek, starring John Jarratt and Lucy Fry, after striking a deal with international distributor Zodiak Rights, TVWise has learned. The six episode series will premiere on FOX UK on Tuesday August 30th at 10pm.

Wolf Creek follows American teenager Eve Thorogood (Lucy Fry), who is on holiday with her family in Northern Australia. Sadistic killer Mick Taylor (John Jarratt) targets the family, viciously slaughtering them for his own twisted pleasure. Seriously injured, Eve survives the massacre of her parents and little brother, and sets out to bring the killer to justice.

The series is based on the feature film of the same name, with original star John Jarratt reprising his role as murdering psychopath Mick Taylor. The scripts were penned by Peter Gawler, Greg McLean and Felicity Packard. Wolf Creek is produced by the Banijay owned Screentime in association with Emu Creek Pictures and financed with the assistance of Screen Australia and the South Australian Film Corporation. It was orginally commissioned by Australian VOD service Stan.

John Jarratt - Wolf CreekThis deal for Wolf Creek, which was brokered by FOX UK’s Head of Programming Toby Etheridge and Zodiak Rights’ Vice-President of Sales & Acquisitions Chris Stewart, comes mere days after TVWise reported that FOX UK had acquired another six part miniseries, Someone Knows My Name, in a deal with eOne. Both shows join a strong line-up of first run dramas at the channel, which includes NCIS, Murder In The FirstJack IrishThe Walking DeadTyrantWayward Pines and Outcast.
