TruTV UK is sticking with America’s Got Talent.
The Turner owned broadcaster has inked a new deal with FremantleMedia International to pick up the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the upcoming eleventh season of the NBC competition series, TVWise has learned. The eleventh season of America’s Got Talent will premiere on TruTV UK on Tuesday June 14th at 8pm.
Hosted by Nick Canon, America’s Got Talent is a competition show open to all ages & talents and features a mix of singers, dancers, gymnasts, magicians and comedians perform in front of the all-star judging panel and a live audience for their chance to win a $1 million prize and a coveted headline act on the Las Vegas Strip. The judging panel consists of Mel B, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum.
The eleventh season will also see series creator Simon Cowell join the judging panel for the first time, after Howard Stern announced that he would not be returning as a judge at the end of season ten. “Without sounding too arrogant, I am going to call us The Fantastic Four”, said Simon Cowell. “I like this panel because they are slightly nuts. And now let’s find a star.”
TruTV UK originally picked up America’s Got Talent last year in a deal with FremantleMedia International which saw them become the exclusive UK home to the series, beginning with season 10. This deal renewal was negotiated by FMI’s Jamie Lynn and Turner UK’s Acquisitions Manager Sabina McNally and builds on the plethora of content provided to the UK channel by the pipeline of content from the US TruTV network.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing America’s number one entertainment show back to the UK in 2016, exclusively on TruTV. With Simon Cowell in the judges’ seat, it’s going to make an unmissable season!”, said Steve Hornsey, Director of General Entertainment for Turner Northern Europe. “America’s Got Talent is a celebration of creativity and talent and UK viewers can expect nothing less than addictive viewing and jaw-dropping moments from its judges and contestants alike.”
While Jamie Lynn, Executive Vice-President Head of Sales & Distribution EMEA, for FremantleMedia International added: “We’re looking forward to bringing another season of America’s Got Talent to the UK with TruTV. The series has always been a must-see for US audiences having consecutively ranked as the number one show of the summer in the US for the past decade. Everyone is excited about Simon Cowell joining the judging panel and it will be a treat for UK audiences to see him in action on the other side of the pond. The eleventh series is set to be bolder and more explosively entertaining than ever before.”
