Gold's 'You, Me & Them' Cancelled After Two Seasons – TVWise

EXCLUSIVE: It’s the end of the road for You, Me & Them. UKTV’s Gold channel has opted not to bring back the Anthony Head and Eve Myles comedy series for a third season, TVWise has learned exclusively.
You, Me & Them tells the story of Ed (Head) and Lauren (Myles). The couple are madly in love, but Lauren’s family and everyone around them seems to have an opinion on their relationship, and specifically, their 20 plus-year age gap. Lindsay Duncan, Susie Blake, Alice Felgate, Miller Henderson, Nigel Betts, Joshua McGuire, Marcus Garvey, Daisy Beaumont and Jeff Rawle also star.
Originally commissioned back in 2013, You, Me & Them, which hails from Steve Turner and Hat Trick Productions, has the distinction of being one of the first scripted series commissioned by Gold as part of their push into original comedy. The series debuted on the channel in 2014 to ok ratings and so-so reviews and was subsequently renewed for a second season in 2014.
While the first season was able to beat the channel’s 12 month slot average, when the show returned for its second season in 2015, ratings were not quite so stellar. Sources tell TVWise that between the dwindling ratings and “fresher” comedies in the pipeline, UKTV executives have decided against ordering a third season. In a statement to TVWise, a UKTV spokesperson confirmed the decision, stating that there are “no current plans for another series”.
Despite the decision to bring You, Me & Them to an end, Gold is still aggressively pursuing their push into scripted comedy. The channel previously renewed their Sarah Alexander comedy Marley’s Ghosts for a second season, which is now in pre-production; and gave the green-light to The Rebel, a new three part comedy series starring Simon Callow.
