Channel 4 has handed out a series order to Big House, Little House after piloting the daytime format earlier this year, TVWise has learned. 20 episodes have been ordered for the show’s first season, which is set to premiere later this year.
Big House, Little House sees two families tackle similar renovation projects but on two very different budgets. Commerical designer Aidan Keane will offer advice and help guide the families through the respective renovations; and the end of each episode will reveal who’s been smart with their spending and has added the greatest profit margin to their house.
The daytime series was commissioned by Channel 4’s Head of Daytime David Sayer and is set up at Scottish indie Raise the Roof Productions. Jonny Wharton is the series producer, while Raise The Roof Productions’ Creative Director Andrew Jackson will serve as the executive producer.
“We all love the before and after of a renovation project, and the inevitable challenges that come along the way. Seeing a renovation undertaken on two very different budgets sheds a light on what you really need to consider when improving your home, and what is pure indulgence”, said David Sayer. “Big House, Little House is a great addition to our daytime schedule.”
While Andrew Jackson added: “I can’t wait to dust down my overalls and join Aidan as he shares his vast expertise and experience with our families, and I’ll be intrigued to see who manages to not only do the best job, but who spends the wisest.”
