The Boomers Christmas special will premiere on BBC One on Wednesday December 23rd at 9:30pm, it has been announced.
Created by Richard Pinto, Boomers is described as an exploration of 60-something relationships which follows the ups and downs of three recently retired couples. Their children have flown the nest and so their own lives and friendships take centre-stage once more. The comedy series is produced by Hat Trick Productions and stars Russ Abbot, Stephanie Beacham, Philip Jackson, James Smith, Alison Steadman, June Whitfield and Paula Wilcox.
In the Christmas special, it’s Christmas Eve at the Calais Shuttle terminal and everyone’s on their way back from a trip to a German Christmas market. Joyce is desperate to get the last train so she’ll be back in time for her granddaughter’s first Christmas. Meanwhile, Carol gets an attack of claustrophobia and overmedicates herself with travel pills; Trevor gets caught unwittingly trying to smuggle Rude Santas; John is involved in a running battle over seating space; and Alan discovers his inner Easy Rider when he meets a leather-clad female biker.
