TBS has cancelled comedy series Clipped and Your Family Or Mine after both aired a single ten episode season, TVWise has learned.
Both series were OK performers in the ratings, especially by TBS standards, averaging shy of 1.5 million viewers across their respective runs. The cancellations are understood to more a result of new network topper Kevin Reilly’s mandate to move both TNT and TBS in new directions, with TNT going “edgy” and TBS getting a “bold sensibility”.
With the decision not to renew either show, TBS does not have a single returning original series with the only returner being Fox transplant American Dad. The network is really looking to make a clean break of things in 2016 with new entries Angie Tribeca and the Untitled Samantha Bee Comedy, after cancelling Men At Work and Sullivan & Son.
Clipped follows a group of kids from high school who ran in different circles but now all work together at a local barbershop in Charlestown, Massachusetts, called Buzzy’s which was recently bought by one-time loser Ben. The comedy series is produced by Warner Horizon Television and stars Ashley Tisdale, Mike Castle, Lauren Lapkus, Ryan Pinkston, Matt Cook and George Wendt.
Your Family Or Mine centers on Oliver (Kyle Howard) and Kelli (Kat Foster), a young couple with two daughters. Oliver and Kelli are living proof of the adage, “When you marry someone, you don’t just marry them, you marry their whole family.” Putting a unique spin on domestic comedies, each episode of Your Family or Mine focuses on a different side of the family, one week with Kelli’s family, the next with Oliver’s. Richard Dreyfuss, JoBeth Williams, Danny Comden and Andrew Lees also star.
