Update: October 6th: In a last minute change, Dave has decided to delay the fifth season of Parks & Recreation and will not be airing it in October as previously announced.
The NBC comedy was acquired by UKTV earlier this year and has been featured prominently as part of a Monday night US comedy block on Dave over the summer, which also included Suits and The Last Man On Earth.
Rather than pushing straight through, UKTV has opted to air the fifth season of the show in 2016, alongside the final two seasons of Parks – which they picked up in the same deal they inked with NBCU to acquire the comedy back in June.
In a statement to TVWise, a UKTV spokesperson said: “Parks & Recreation Season 5 will kick off next year when viewers can feast on the last three series of the hit US show.”
Previous, September 9th: Parks & Recreation will receive its UK premiere on UKTV’s Dave channel on Monday October 12th at 8pm with a double-bill, it has been announced.
Created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur, Parks & Recreation follows Leslie Knope, the deputy director of the Parks and Recreation as she tries her best to deliver for the local community despite the best efforts of her boss, Ron Swanson, who is opposed to government and does his best to undermine government work at every turn. The comedy series stars Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Paul Schneider, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe, Jim O’Heir and Retta.
In the opening episode of the show’s fifth season, titled Ms Knope Goes To Washington, Leslie and Andy visit Ben and April at their new jobs in Washington D.C., and Leslie feels overwhelmed by the city — especially after meeting two of her idols (Senator Barbara Boxer and Senator Olympia Snowe). Meanwhile, Ron throws a “thank you” barbeque for the entire Parks and Recreation staff.
