USA Network has tapped Helix alum Jordan Hayes for a starring role in their drama pilot Poor Richard’s Almanack, which hails from Jim Danger Gray, Miguel Sapochnik, Legendary Television and the network’s sister studio Universal Cable Productions.
Poor Richard’s Almanack is described as a high-concept thriller that weaves between the modern day and a possible future where characters have changed radically. The drama revolves around a cadre of heroes who emerge as the new “Founding Fathers,” after America is pushed to the brink of collapse.
Per Deadline, Hayes will play Madison Fischer, a paranoid schizophrenic who sees patterns where others don’t. When she stumbles upon a plan for a series of terrorist attacks, she has to convince her CIA agent brother to look past her affliction and trust her. She played regular character Sarah Jordan on both seasons of Syfy’s Helix. Hayes’ previous credits include The Firm, Nikita and Being Erica.
The hour-long pilot, which is a co-production between Legendary Television and Universal Cable Productions, was penned by Jim Danger Gray and Miguel Sapochnik. The executive producers are Jim Danger Gray, Marc Helwig and Miguel Sapochnik. Game Of Thrones helmer Neil Marshall has also boarded the project and will direct the pilot and serve as an executive producer.
