ITV2 has commissioned the FremantleMedia UK owned indie Talkback to produce Glitchy, a six episode sketch-prank hybrid series featuring Plebs star Ryan Sampson.
Described as a “fast-paced” format, Glitchy sees Sampson parody much loved and recognisable television shows with such efforts as Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Hand Model, 24 Hours in A Phone Box and Date My Daughter. While the television shows on Glitchy are fake, the unsuspecting members of the public believe them to be real.
Sampson will be joined by a raft of up-and-coming comedy talent including Ellie White, Gabby Best, Colin Hoult, Liam Hourican, Jason Attar and Mona Yousefi. “I’m beyond excited that ITV have let us loose, giving our own twisted take on all of our favourite TV Shows”, said Ryan Sampson. “It’s going to be brilliant. And weird. And weirdly brilliant.”
Glitchy was ordered by ITV’s Director of Digital Channels and Acquisitions Angela Jain and commissioned by ITV’s Entertainment Commissioning Editor Kate Maddigan. Talkback is producing with Leon Wilson and James Longman serving as executive producers. Isabel Forte is set as the series producer. The six episode series is expected to premiere on ITV2 this Autumn.
“We are always up for commissioning risky shows and this is one of them”, said ITV’s Director of Digital Channels and Acquisitions Angela Jain. “The production team behind it and the performers are a crack ensemble. Delivering laughs is what they know how to do.”
“Ryan Sampson is a great comedic talent and Talkback are delighted to work with him on this hilarious brand new series that will throw new light on some of the ITV2 audiences favourite TV shows”, added executive producer and Talkback Managing-Director Leon Wilson.
