TNT's 'Major Crimes' Gets 5 Episode Back Order – TVWise

TNT is expanding the fourth season of Major Crimes. The network has handed out a five episode back order to the Mary McDonnell fronted procedural, bringing the total number of episodes ordered for the show’s fourth season to twenty-three.
This is the largest episode order that Major Crimes has ever received and is on-par with the typical orders given to a series on one of the big five networks. The series has long been a top performer for TNT, with the show’s fourth season pulling in north of ten million viewers, close to the numbers for the network’s flagship drama Rizzoli & Isles.
The five episode pick up is also noteworthy as its comes as questions have been lingering about the show’s future, especially as TNT has typically renewed the series by this stage in previous years. That said, given the lucrative international sales and the show’s strong ratings, Major Crimes is widely expected to be renewed for a fifth season before too long.
Created by James Duff, Major Crimes follows the major crimes unit of the LAPD under the command of Captain Sharon Raydor. The drama series is produced by Warner Horizon Television and stars Mary McDonnell, G.W. Bailey, Tony Denison, Michael Paul Chan, Raymond Cruz, Phillip P. Keene, Kearran Giovanni, Graham Patrick Martin, Nadine Velazquez, Robert Gossett and Jonathan Del Arco.
