After teasing the show’s return over the course of the Summer, Showtime has released the first full length trailer for the fifth season of Homeland.
Based on the Israeli series Hatufim, Homeland was created by Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa & Gideon Raff and follows Carrie Mathison, a CIA case officer who finds herself battling her own demons while she works on the front lines of the War on Terror. The drama series is produced by Fox 21 and stars Clare Danes, Mandy Patinkin and Rupert Friend.
The 12 episode fifth season of the CIA drama – which is set to premiere on Sunday October 4th at 9/8c – will be set two years after season four, following Carrie’s ill-fated tenure as CIA station chief in Islamabad, Pakistan. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the “war on terror,” Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm.
In addition to Clare Danes, returning cast members include Mandy Patinkin, (Saul Berenson), F. Murray Abraham (Dar Adal) and Rupert Friend (Peter Quinn). Meanwhile Sebastian Koch (The Lives Of Others), Miranda Otto (The Lord Of The Rings), Alexander Fehling (Inglorious Basterds) and Sarah Sokolovic (Cold Comes The Night) have joined the series as regulars for season 5.
