Rafe Spall Set As Lead In ITV’s Supernatural Drama ‘Harry Price: Ghost Hunter’

Rafe SpallRafe Spall (The Shadow Line, Sons Of Liberty) has been cast as the lead in ITV’s one-off drama Harry Price: Ghost Hunter, which is based on Neil Spring’s novel The Ghost Hunters.

Harry Price: Ghost Hunter is set in 1920s London at a time of rapidly emerging technology and follows Britain’s most famous real life ghost hunter and sceptic who investigated tales of the paranormal and supernatural. Described as a mix of fiction and real history, the two hour film sees Harry investigating the haunting of a local MP’s home.

Rafe Spall will play Harry Price, Britain’s most famous real life ghost hunter and sceptic. “I’m delighted to be portraying Harry Price for ITV”, Spall said in a statement. “It’s a fantastic piece of history that has mass appeal and I can’t wait to start filming”.

Other cast additions include Cara Theobald (Downton Abbey) as Sarah Grey, a member of Harry’s team who assists him in his paranormal investigations; Richie Campbell (DCI Banks) as Albert Ogoro, Harry’s friend; Lewis Reeves (Uncle) as journalist Vernon Wall; Tom Ward (The Frankenstein Chronicles) as MP Edward Goodwin and Zoe Boyle (Sons Of Anarchy) as Edward’s wife, Grace.

The two-hour drama, which was commissioned by ITV’s Director of Drama Steve November and Controller of Drama Victoria Fea, is set up at independent production company Bentley Productions and was developed for television by Glue scribe Jack Lothian. Denise Paul is the producer, while Jo Wright will executive produce. Da Vinci’s Demons helmer Alex Pillai has come on board to direct. Production on Harry Price: Ghost Hunter is now underway in in London for a 2016 premiere.
