FOX UK is turning to Adult Swim for their renewed push into scripted comedy.
The FIC owned and operated channel has inked a deal with Turner Broadcasting System for the exclusive UK broadcast rights to a wide range of Adult Swim content, including Dan Harmon’s Rick & Morty and Mr Pickles. The series acquired under this deal will air on Thursday nights from 11pm in a branded Adult Swim block.

Mr Pickles centers on the lives of the Goodman family and their innocent six-year-old son Tommy, whose best friend is the family’s lovable border collie, Mr. Pickles. Rick & Morty and Mr Pickles will be the first series to air on FOX UK as part of this wide ranging deal with Turner and will debut on Thursday September 10th. Ricky & Morty will air at 11pm, leading into Mr Pickles at 11:30pm. Other series covered by this deal that will air in the Adult Swim block later this year include Robot Chicken, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Venture Bros, Black Jesus and Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell.
FOX UK has been looking to broaden out their offerings on the comedy side since the initial rebrand in 2013. Early attempts included Men At Work and Louie, but the channel has been trying to find content that could compliment the Thursday night Seth MacFarlane series Family Guy and American Dad. To that end, FOX UK also recently picked up second window rights to MacFarlane’s new Fox series Bordertown.
“The acquisition of these satirical, riotous new series cements FOX as the home of adult animated and live action comedy on Thursday nights in the UK”, said Jeff Ford, Managing Director of Fox International Channels UK. “Fans of Family Guy and American Dad! will be sure to love these irreverent comedies, already cult classics in the U.S.”
“Adult Swim is the top-performing cable channel among US millennials and we’re delighted to be partnering with Fox to bring this hugely popular brand and its abundance of hilarious entertainment to audiences here in the UK”, added Turner’s Humphrey Black. “This is a key part of our broader strategy for bringing Adult Swim to audiences in Europe across multiple platforms.”
