Discovery Channel UK is sticking with Bear Grylls. The factual channel has acquired the UK broadcast rights to the second season of Running Wild With Bear Grylls after striking a deal with international distributor Electus, TVWise has learned. The show’s eighth episode second season is expected to premiere this September.
Running Wild With Bear Grylls follows Grylls and big name celebrities partner up for a 48-hour extreme survival adventure challenge. Celebrities lined up for the show’s second season include Kate Winslet, Kate Hudson, Michelle Rodriquez, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ed Helms, James Marsden, Michael B. Jordan and Drew Brees.
The first season of Running Wild With Bear Grylls aired on Discovery UK last year, pulling in strong ratings for the multi-channel broadcaster. “We are thrilled to be airing the new series of Running Wild with Bear Grylls, which features a stellar line-up of talent, including Kate Winslet. In the show we see well-known personalities as never before – pushing themselves to the limit as they tackle the wilderness head-on in some of the world’s most unforgiving environments”, said Graham Lafferty, Head of Discovery Channel UK and Ireland. “It’s exciting to be bringing such a talked about series exclusively to the UK, giving unique access to some of the biggest names from showbiz and sport.”
