Fox is bringing back another well known X-Files alum for the revival. Annabeth Gish (The Bridge, Sons Of Anarchy) has signed on to reprise her role as FBI Special Agent Monica Reyes in the limited event series. She will appear in one episode towards the end of the six episode run.
Gish’s deal to return comes after a long and arduous process and at several points it looked like it might not close, with the plans almost derailed (at one point sources intimated that Fox had walked away from the table) when Robert Patrick declined to take part in the six episode revival. Prior to that, the plan had been for Gish and Patrick to appear in two episodes.
She is the latest X-Files alum to sign on for the revival. Other returning cast members include David Duchovny as Fox Mulder, Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully, Mitch Pileggi as Assistant Director Walter Skinner, William B. Davis as CGB Spender/Cigarette Smoking Man and Dean Haglund, Bruce Harwood and Tom Braidwood as Langly, Byers and Frohike – known collectively as The Lone Gunmen.
New cast additions to the series, meanwhile, include Robbie Amell (The Tomorrow People) and Lauren Ambrose (Dig) as a pair of FBI agents, Joel McHale (Community) as Tad O’Malley and Annet Mahendru (The Americans) as Sveta. Rhys Darby (Flight Of The Conchords), Aliza Vellani (iZombie) and Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley) also star.
From series creator Chris Carter, The X-Files Revival is envisioned as a follow up to the original nine season series and both feature films. Ten Thirteen Productions and 20th Century Fox Television are producing, with Carter and Glen Morgan serving as executive producers. The duo also serve as writers and directors alongside Darin Morgan and James Wong.
