Netflix has released the first full length trailer for their Pablo Escobar drama series Narcos, which is set to premiere on Friday August 28th in all territories where the streaming service has a presence.
Created by José Padilha, Narcos chronicles the gripping real-life stories of the drug kingpins of the late 1980s and the corroborative efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict. It details the conflicting forces – legal, political, police, military and civilian – that clash in an effort to control the world’s most powerful commodity: cocaine.
The drama series is produced by Gaumont International Television and stars Wagner Moura, Boyd Holbrook, Pedro Pascal, Juan Pablo Raba, Joanna Christie, Stephanie Sigman, Manolo Cardona, André Mattos, Luis Guzman, Ana de la Reguera. José Padilha, Eric Newman, Doug Miro, Carlos Bernard and Chris Brancato serve as executive producers on the 10 episode series.
Speaking at the time that Narcos was first picked up straight-to-series back in April 2014, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said: “Jose and Wagner together created one of the most sophisticated and chilling portraits of criminality and official corruption ever in their Elite Squad movies. Their version of the Escobar saga will be like nothing ever seen before.”
