Rectify - Season 2Some 24 hours ahead of the season three premiere, SundanceTV has renewed their southern drama Rectify for a fourth season. The exact size of the episode order for season four has yet to be determined and will likely be based on the ratings performance on season three, which has an order for six episodes.

“Even in an increasingly crowded field of dramas on television, ‘Rectify’ has established itself as something special,” said Charlie Collier, President of AMC and SundanceTV. “What Ray McKinnon, this incredible cast and everyone associated with the show have been able to achieve is remarkable, and we are so pleased to usher in this third season with an order for a fourth. ‘Rectify’ has had such a huge impact in establishing SundanceTV as a home for high-quality, intelligent drama. We are excited to continue this important partnership with Ray and the entire team.”

Created by Ray McKinnon, Rectify follows Daniel Holden who, after new exculpatory evidence is found, is released from prison after nearly 20 years of complete isolation on Death Row, he returns as an outsider to his family, to his community, and to the times. Daniel’s unexpected release not only throws his family into disarray, it ripples out to all the people connected to his case. Like a deadly spark, Daniel’s release reignites the mystery, the power plays, and the questionable justice that condemned him. The drama series stars Aden Young, Abigail Spencer, J. Smith Cameron, Luke Kirby, Clayne Crawford, Adelaide Clemens, Bruce McKinnon, Jake Austin Walker, Michael O’Neill and Hal Holbrook.

The show’s third season picks up where season two left off, on the afternoon of Daniel’s plea deal. Will the deal be accepted?  Will Daniel be forced to leave town? And when the body of a missing person is discovered, law enforcement once again turns to him for answers. As Daniel’s sister Amantha attempts to live her own life, she is given an opportunity at a local store that for the first time in a long time has nothing to do with her brother. Meanwhile, Tawney and Ted Jr. struggle to see if their marriage has a future. Janet and Ted Sr, also under pressure from Daniel’s actions, will find that their marriage is put to the test as well.
