Showtime has set October premiere dates for the new seasons of Homeland and The Affair.
The two critically acclaimed dramas will return to the premium cable network on Sunday October 4th, with the fifth season of Homeland launching at 9/8c, while the second season of The Affair will follow just behind at 10/9c.
Homeland‘s fifth season will be set two years after season four, following Carrie’s ill-fated tenure as CIA station chief in Islamabad, Pakistan. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the “war on terror,” Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm.
Returning cast members include Clare Danes (Carrie Matthison), Mandy Patinkin, (Saul Berenson), F. Murray Abraham (Dar Adal) and Rupert Friend (Peter Quinn). Meanwhile Sebastian Koch (The Lives Of Others), Miranda Otto (The Lord Of The Rings), Alexander Fehling (Inglorious Basterds) and Sarah Sokolovic (Cold Comes The Night) have joined the series as regulars for season 5.
The Affair explores the emotional and psychological effects of an affair that destroyed two marriages, and the crime that brings these individuals back together. This season, the provocative drama will be told separately from four different perspectives, revealing four distinct truths. The drama series was created by Sarah Treem & Hagai Levi Dominic and stars Dominic West (The Wire), Ruth Wilson (Luther), Maura Tierney (ER) and Joshua Jackson (Fringe).
