In what will be his first major TV role since Six Feet Under, Richard Jenkins has joined the cast of Berlin Station, the 10 episode contemporary espionage crime drama from Paramount TV which is set up at premium streaming service Epix. Jenkins will play Steven Frost, a veteran of the Cold War who serves as the CIA’s Chief of the Berlin Station.
“Richard is one of the most respected and charismatic actors in the industry and we are honored that he has joined Berlin Station,” said Mark S. Greenberg, President and CEO of Epix. “Epix is committed to offering our viewers smart, thought-provoking entertainment and with Berlin Station we will continue to meet that expectation.”
“Richard Jenkins is an enormous talent whose onscreen presence always manages to capture humanity and drama in its most sincere form – whether it’s through his sense of humility, humor or intelligence,” added Amy Powell, President of Paramount TV. “On behalf of the entire creative team behind the show, we take great pride that he will be taking on the role of Frost in Berlin Station, and we are all thrilled to have this opportunity to work with him.”
Berlin Station follows Daniel Meyer, a newly anointed case officer who has arrived at the CIA foreign station in Berlin, Germany. Meyer has a clandestine mission: to uncover the source of a leak who has supplied information to a now-famous whistleblower named Thomas Shaw. Guided by a jaded veteran, Daniel learns to contend with the rough-and-tumble world of the field agent: agent-running, deception, the dangers and moral compromises. As he dives deeper into the German capital’s hall of mirrors, Daniel uncovers the threads of a conspiracy that leads back to Washington.
Picked up straight-to-series, Berlin Station is set up at Paramount Television, who are producing in association with Anonymous Content. Novelist Olen Steinhauer is penning the scripts and will serve as an executive producer alongside Michaël Roskam, Eric Roth, Steve Golin, Kerry Kohansky-Roberts, Keith Redmon and Luke Rivett. In addition to executive producing, Michaël Roskam is also attached to direct the first two episodes. Production on Berlin Station is slated to commence later this year for a Fall 2016 premiere.
