Former Law & Order and Crossing Jordan star Jill Hennessy has booked a recurring role on CBS’ Téa Leoni fronted State Department drama Madam Secretary, TVWise has learned.
Hennessy will play Jane Fellows, Henry’s (Tim Daly) new Defense Intelligence Agency handler, who is a commanding yet discreet political operator known for keeping cool in a crisis and who may not always see eye to eye with him. She will first appear in the season two opener, which is set to air on Sunday October 2nd.
This marks Hennessy’s first major TV role since her three episode arc on The Good Wife last season. Her other TV credits include Las Vegas, HBO’s short-lived Luck and the Jean Reno French cop drama Jo, which hailed from former Law & Order executive producer Rene Balcer.
Madam Secretary has been lining up a slew of guest stars for its 22 episode second season. Just last week, CBS announced that Madeleine Albright, who served as Secretary of State under President Clinton between 2007 and 2001, would appear in the second season playing a fictionalised version of herself who gives advice to Secretary Elizabeth McCord (Leoni).
