Fox dropped a (ever so slightly) extended look at their upcoming X-Files revival last night during the season (and quite possibly series) finale of Summer event series Wayward Pines.
From series creator Chris Carter, The X-Files Revival is envisioned as a follow up to the original nine season series and both feature films, with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their roles as Mulder and Scully. Original cast members Mitch Pileggi, William B, Davis, Dean Haglund, Bruce Harwood and Tom Braidwood are also set to reprise their roles. Ten Thirteen Productions and 20th Century Fox Television are producing, with Carter and Glen Morgan serving as executive producers. The duo also serve as writers and directors alongside Darin Morgan and James Wong.
New cast additions for the six episode The X-Files revival include Joel McHale as Mulder’s ally and conservative news anchor Tad O’Malley; The American‘s star Annet Mahendru as Sveta; Rhys Darby as a man Mulder suspects in a series of what appear to be animal attacks; iZombie alum Aliza Vellani in an as-yet undisclosed role; and Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose as a pair of new FBI agents. Silicon Valley‘s Kumail Nanjiani has also filmed a guest role on the revival, as an animal control officer.
The new promo, which runs for all of seventeen seconds, consists of the footage previously released last week (also during an episode of Wayward Pines) with an extra five seconds showing a brief conversation between Mulder (Duchovny) and Scully (Anderson). “Are you ready for this?”, Mulder asks. Prompting Scully to respond: “I don’t know there’s a choice”.
The X-Files will premiere on Fox on Sunday January 24th, following the NFC Championship Game. Check out the new promo below:
