Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) has joined the cast of Hap And Leonard, SundanceTV’s six episode drama series based on the novel series of the same name by noted author Joe Lansdale. Her casting comes shortly after she exited the Showtime series Roadies, following the pilot.
Based on Lansdale’s series of eight novels and two novellas, Hap and Leonard tells the story of Hap Collins and Leonard Pine, an unlikely pair of best friends and martial arts experts who struggle through misadventure to stay on the right side of the law in 1980’s East Texas.
Hendricks will play Hap’s ex-wife Trudy, who resurfaces after two years with a proposition for Hap that he cannot refuse. She joins a cast which is being led James Purefoy (The Following) & Michael Kenneth Williams (Boardwalk Empire). Bill Sage (Boardwalk Empire) and Jimmi Simpson (The Newsroom) also star
Set to premiere in 2016, Hap & Leonard is being penned by Nick Damici and Jim Mickle, who is also attached to direct. Sundance Studios is producing with Nick Shumaker and Jeremy Platt serving as executive producers. Original author Joe Lansdale is also attached to the project and will co-executive produce.
