First Image: Kerry Washington In HBO's 'Confirmation' – TVWise

HBO has released the first image for their upcoming high-profile TV movie Confirmation, which tells the story of Clarence Thomas’ failed Supreme Court nomination and stars Wendell Pierce (The Wire) and Kerry Washington (Scandal).
Confirmation is set in 1991 and details Clarence Thomas’ (Wendell Pierce) confirmation hearings for Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court – a position he was nominated for by then President George H. W. Bush. The hearings became a focal point of controversy and brought the country to a standstill when Anita Hill (Kerry Washington) testified, accusing Thomas of sexual harassment.
In addition to Wendell Pierce and Kerry Washington, the cast of the eagerly anticipated movie also includes Greg Kinnear as Senator Biden, Eric Stonestreet as Ken Duberstein, Jennifer Hudson as Angela Wright, Jeffrey Wright as Charles Ogletree, Alison Wright as Ginni Thomas, Grace Gummer as Ricki Seidman, Dylan Baker as Senator Hatch, Erika Christensen as Shirley Weigand, Peter McRobbie as Senator Simpson, Treat Williams as Senator Ted Kennedy and Bill Irwin as John Danforth.
Set to premiere on HBO in 2016, Confirmation is being produced in-house by HBO Films in association with ABC Studios’ boutique division ABC Signature, from a script by Erin Brokovich scribe Susannah Grant. Rick Famuyiwa is directing Confirmation, which is currently in production. The executive producers are Susannah Grant, Kerry Washington, Michael London and Janice Williams.
The first look image released today shows Scandal star Kerry Washington in character as Anita Hill, the woman who would almost singlehandedly derail Thomas’ nomination for the US Supreme Court in 1991. Check out the image below:
