'Empire' Creator Lee Daniels Inks Overall Deal With 20th Century Fox Television – TVWise

Lee Daniels has inked a multi-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television, the studio behind his hit Fox series Empire, which last season broke all previous records and established itself as the highest rated broadcast drama in seven years after it grew its audience every week it was on the air.
Under the long-running pact, Daniels will continue to serve as executive producer on Empire and he will also develop new projects for 20th Century Fox Television through his Lee Daniels Productions banner. The pact also calls for him to write, direct and supervise new projects for the studio.
“I’m incredibly excited to continue my relationship with Dana and Gary, and the rest of the Fox team”, said Lee Daniels. “I’m looking forward to developing content and finding alternative voices for both in front of and behind the camera.”
“Lee Daniels has a gift for telling authentic, provocative stories that are both truthful and wildly entertaining. His casting instincts are incredible, whether he is discovering tomorrow’s stars or attracting the most accomplished performers to his projects”, said Fox Television Group Chairmen and CEO’s Gary Newman and Dana Walden. “Quite simply, we love working with this inspired storyteller, and this deal is about extending and deepening our relationship.”
