Along with dropping the first trailer earlier today, Netflix has also released a series of first look images for their upcoming sci-fi series Sense8. The 12 episode drama, from J. Michael Straczynski and The Wachowskis, premieres globally on the streaming service on Friday June 5th.
Sense8 follows eight characters that live in different cities around the world who experience a violent vision, and soon find themselves mentally connected by this experience. They are suddenly able to see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, and have access to each other’s deepest secrets. Not only must these eight adapt to this new ability and to each other, they must figure out what happened and why and what it means for the future of humanity, while being hunted by an organization out to capture, kill or vivisect them.
Created and executive produced by J. Michael Straczynski and The Wachowskis, the 12 episode series stars Naveen Andrews (Lost), Daryl Hannah (Kill Bill), Brian J. Smith (Stargate Universe), Tuppence Middleton (Sinbad), Aml Ameen (Harry’s Law), Freema Agyeman (Law & Order: UK), Tena Desae (Dussehra), Doona Bae (Cloud Atlas), Max Riemelt (Amnesia), Alfonso Herrera (El Capo), Erendira Ibarra (FemVamp.Com), Jamie Clayton (Hung), Miguel Silvestri (Velvet) and Terrence Mann (Smash).
Sense8 was first picked up by Netflix in a competitive situation back in March 2013, after it had been shopped around to the other networks. It is set up at Straczynski’s Studio JMS (who are also developing a Babylon 5 feature film reboot, set to enter production in 2016) & Georgeville Television and was filmed on location in Iceland, Seoul, Berlin, Chicago, Nairobi, the UK, San Francisco, Mumbai and Mexico City. Marc Rosen, Leon Clarance, and Deepak Nayar also serve as executive producers.
