TVWise continues our Upfronts coverage with a first look image gallery of the new shows that ABC has ordered for the 2015–2016 season.

After several years a weak/mediocre development, ABC finally hit something of a winning streak this past season. They rode the trend of diversity with strong performing comedies Black-ish and Fresh Off The Boat, while the Shonda Rhimes TGIT block on Thursday nights also proved hugely successful.

That’s not to say that everything went smoothly, especially on the comedy side of things. Eagerly anticipated comedy Selfie stumbled out the gate and was quickly cancelled, as was fellow sitcom Manhattan Love Story. Other misses included the softly rated Forever and Cristela.

But as the network looks ahead to the 2015-2016, Paul Lee and his execs are looking to fulfil their promise of continuing to serve their traditionally female-skewing audience, whilst also bringing more men to the network, by picking up a range of comedies, procedurals and soapy dramas.

The network has green-lit a whopping ten new series for the 2015-2016 season – a bizarrely high number when you consider they only cancelled five shows this past season. Of those, six are dramas (Shonda Rhimes’ The Catch, Oil, Quantico, Wicked City, Of Kings & Prophets and The Family), and four are comedies (Dr Ken, The Real O’Neals, The Muppets and Uncle Buck).

ABC has now released the first images from a number of their ten new series, which you can check out in the gallery below. Also include in the gallery is first look images from Summer series The Astronaut Wives Club and sci-fi entry The Whispers.
