After piloting the project in 2013 and subsequently airing a five episode first season last year, Channel 4 has renewed documentary series Dogs: Their Secret Lives for a second season.
Produced by Arrow Media, Dogs: Their Secret Lives captures the extraordinary behaviour of some of the nation’s dogs and their owners on camera, both in their homes and out and about. Vet and animal expert Dr. Mark Evans and his expert team then analyse the footage to get to the heart of canine behaviour problems and help put troubled hounds and their struggling owners back on the road to recovery. Dog trainer Tamsin Durston joins Dr Evans teams for season two.
Alongside the second season renewal the format is undergoing some tweaking, with the addition of two new features. Those features are K9 Academy, in which Tamsin Durston provides viewers with practical tips on basic training; and Do Try This At Home, which invites viewers to try fun tests on their own dogs to see if they can find out, for instance, if their dogs are right or left-pawed.
“We are delighted to be bringing more Dogs: Their Secret Lives to viewers”, said executive producer Nick Metcalfe. “The series connects with viewers and dog owners through appealing and fresh insights into the wonderful world of the country’s favourite pets. Our camera rigs provide startling and sometimes highly amusing clips of the dogs in action, while our experts provide welcome advice for owners who love their dogs but can sometimes find them difficult to live with.”
